File deletion

Behavior differs by OS to match platform conventions.

Action Windows / Linux macOS
Delete selected photo(s) Delete Cmd+Backspace
Delete selected mask or AI patch (non-destructive) Delete when a mask/patch is selected Backspace when a mask/patch is selected

This means on macOS, plain Backspace never deletes files, only mask layers, protecting against accidents.

Masks (when Masks panel is active)

Action Shortcut
Increase brush size by 10 px Ctrl+↑
Decrease brush size by 10 px Ctrl+↓

(Brush size clamps to the range 1–200 px.)

Escape behavior

Escape cascades through possible exit actions in this order:

  1. Exit straightening tool
  2. Run any custom escape handler (modal close, etc.)
  3. Deselect active AI submask
  4. Deselect active AI patch
  5. Deselect active mask
  6. Deselect active mask container
  7. Exit the Crop panel back to Adjustments
  8. Exit fullscreen
  9. Return to library

You can press Escape repeatedly to back out of nested states.

Notes

  • Shortcuts are disabled when a text input or text area is focused (so typing in a tag input never triggers a panel switch).
  • Modal dialogs disable global shortcuts while open.
  • Shortcuts also work via touch input on Android, see the AI / brush controls.
