Keyboard Shortcuts

All default shortcuts, grouped by task. You can change almost all of them in Settings → Controls → Keyboard Controls: click a shortcut, then press the new keys.

On macOS, Ctrl in the tables means Cmd (the Control key works too). Letters follow your keyboard layout, so on an AZERTY or QWERTZ keyboard you press the key that prints that letter.

Library and navigation

Files you delete go to the system trash.

Rating, flags and labels

These work in the library, the editor and the Culling View, and apply to every selected photo.

Shortcuts that cannot be changed

On macOS, plain Backspace only ever deletes masks, never files, so you cannot delete a photo by accident.

Mouse and touchpad

With Touchpad selected in Settings → Controls, two fingers pan and pinch zooms.

What Escape does

Each press of Escape does the first thing that applies:

1. Close Settings.
2. Turn off the straighten tool.
3. Deselect the active mask component or inpaint edit, then the mask itself.
4. Leave the Crop panel (back to Adjust).
5. Leave fullscreen.
6. Go from the editor back to the library.
7. Go from the library back to the start screen.

Press it repeatedly to back out step by step.

Changing shortcuts

1. Open Settings (Ctrl+,) and choose the Controls tab.
2. Click the shortcut you want to change.
3. Press the new key combination.

If two actions share keys, both get a yellow warning. Reset All to Defaults restores everything.

Shortcuts are paused while you type in a text field and while most dialogs are open.
